Sufism for our life

Sufism

Have we ever heard or seen a writing that contains a story or a glimpse of the word Sufism, and we may often question our heartstrings what is meant by Sufism?

A.definition of Sufism

Sufism or commonly known as sufism is a teaching about how we should do in purifying the body soul, clearing morals, and building something dhahir and mental which aims to be able to obtain eternal happiness. i.e. happiness later in the hereafter.

some notions according to scholars :

Shah sahl at-tusturi said :

" Sufi or Sufism is a person who has a clear heart free from various impurities, does not depend on man with the aim that his worship is only sincere to Allah.according to them gold and land have no difference".

Imam junaid said :

"Sufism is to cleanse the heart from being dependent on man, to shun and eliminate despicable qualities, to avoid various teachings of lust, to plant firmly the qualities of ruhaniah, commitment to the science of essence, to ceaselessly advise the dalai of goodness, to fulfill and carry out with all the soul of the pa that God commands and istiqamah dalai following in the footsteps of Rosulullah ".

B.principles in Sufism

Shah sahl at-tutsuri once explained that the principles in Sufism are seven words, namely:

a.clinging firmly to the book of Allah (qur'an)

b.istiqamah dalai following the sunnah of Rosulullah

c.stay away from sin and toxicity

d. consuming halal food

e.stay away from deeds and words that hurt others

f.carrying out obligations

g.repentance

C.scholars of Sufism

There are many scholars who are experts in Sufism, meaning the scholars who carry out all the principles in Sufism include imam al-ghazali, imam abu nu'aim al-ishbahani, al-hafidz ibn sholah, imam al-izzu bin abdussalam, imam suyuthi, imam nawawi, imam subki and others.the scholars also mention among the leaders or experts of Sufism who are famous and become role models for Muslims in the world until now

There are 4 madzhab scholars who are the most famous and belong to the group of sunnah experts and pilgrims, namely:

A.Imam Abu Hanifah An-Nu'man bin Tsabit (150 Hijri)

b.Imam Malik ibn Anas al-Ashbahi (179 Hijri )

c.imam Muhammad idris as-shafi'I (204 hijri )

d.imam ahmad bin Muhammad bin hambal (241 hijri )

D.scholarly opinions on Sufism

A.Imam Malik bin Anas al-Ashbahi said :

" whoever practices the science of fiqh without the science of Sufism, then he is punished with ungodliness.and whoever is suffocated but without the science of fiqh, then he belongs to the infidel zindik.and whoever combines the science of fiqh and sufism, then he will attain the science of haqiqat ".

This means that a knowledge that a person has without being accompanied by adab, sincerity and muraqabah will cause the owner of the knowledge to become an ungodly person.and if he learns sincerity, adab and a lot of thinking but not accompanied by knowledge, it will make infidels zindik.while the person who combines knowledge, adab, sincerity and zikir, makamia is derived from people who already know the nature of the Islamic religion.

b.imam Muhammad ibn idris as-shafi'I said :

" During my association with the Sufis (sufismists), I learned from them 2 important lessons.

1.at that time it was like a sword, if you did not cut with it, then surely it would cut you.

2.as to your lusts,if you are not preoccupied with the truth, then surely he is afflicting you with greatness".

Therefore abu bakr ibn ali al-masyhur once said :

No one will be aware of the existence of a time.except for 2 groups, namely :

a.sufism (sufi) experts

b.western thinkers.

c.imam ahmad bin Muhammad bin hambal said :

" O my son, associate with them (Sufis), for indeed they will give you blessings with the breadth of knowledge, muraqabah, zuhud, khasyah and lofty ideals ".
