ONE OF THE PROPHETS KILLED BY THE BANI ISRAIL

 

YAHYA PROPHET AS

Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam, was born when his parents were old, Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam was born in 7 BC which is the only child of the Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam, and his mother named Isya is the sister of Hannah’s wife Imran and his mother named Maryam .

Since childhood, Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam has been taught and memorized the teachings contained in the Book of Torah and Psalms so that he is protected from Shirk and immorality, as also explained in Al-Quran Surat Maryam verse 12 to 13.

Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam during his life never did wrong, he was very devoted and do good to both his parents, not harsh and not arrogant. He is a person who his humility and meekness were also given honor and safety by Allah Subhanahu Wa ta’ala, as well as being protected from danger and disease. At the time of Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam birth, death and doomsday, he was resurrected with glory before his Lord. As also explained in the Qur’an, Surat Maryam, verse 14, chapter 15.

Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam was appointed by Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala, to be a prophet in the year 27 AD. He helped his father preach by reminding his people and the leaders of Bani Israel who violated the laws of the Torah. He was very brave in upholding the truth and enforcing religious laws firmly. Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam also always encouraged his sinful people to immediately repent to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. The repentance was marked by bathing in the Jordan river. That’s why Prophet Yahya Alahissalam is nicknamed Al-Ma’madan.

 PROPHET YAHYA AS AND PROPHET ZAKARIA AS DIED

Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam lived during the time of Jerusalem which was under the rule of the Roman empire (4 BC-39 AD) and Herodus as its ruler. Once upon a time the king named Herodus planned to marry his stepson, Herudia, and the Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam knew about the plan. So the Prophet Yahya issued a fatwa prohibiting it, because according to the law of the Torah it is forbidden to marry a stepchild.

But Herod he did not want his marriage to fail, so he asked the king Herod to killed the Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam. Finally King Herodus caught and imprisonedi prophet Yahya Alahissalam then killed him to fulfill his lover’s request, namely his stepson.

Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam and his father, Prophet Zakaria, were considered to have hindered the King’s will, then both of them were killed. The first point was that Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam was first killed by the king, then with the permission of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala the Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam entered into a tree that at that time splitting himself into two, then the Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam entered the tree, after the Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam entered it, the tree was closed again as before.

The soldiers of the king searched for the Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam, but in his hiding place was not found. So they thought that Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam must have had magic and of course he was in the tree to hide.

And finally the tree was in their saw, then Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam died in the tree because it was cut by a saw into two, such is the history of the Messengers of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in defending the law of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. Because of their stubbornness in defending the law of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala they were killed as martyrs,

CONCLUSION FROM THE STORY OF THE PROPHET YAHYA AS

•       Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam is a pious person who never does anything polytheism from childhood.
•       Prophet Yahya Alaihissalam and also his father, Prophet Zakaria Alaihissalam, were killed by the king, because they defended God’s law and prevented the king from marrying his own stepson, because according to Allah’s law, the act of marrying his own stepdaughter is prohibited.
