PROPHET SALEH AS

Prophet Saleh Alaihissalam is the son of Ubaid bin Jarir bin Samud, he is the sixth descendant of Prophet Nuh Alaihissalam, who was sent to the Samud people. That is a name that is nationalized to the name of his grandfather named Samud bin Amir bin Iram bin Sam bin Nuh.

The Samuds also lived in a country called the Hijr, which is a mountainous area between the cities of Medina and Sham or what is called Syria in the southeast of the land of Madyan.

The country is very fertile, the Samuds worked hard to build the civilization of their country so that Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala bestowed upon him abundant wealth so that they too lived well, happy and happy. But with the abundant grace they are not grateful for the favors of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. They even disobey Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala. By worshiping idols. Therefore, Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, sent the prophet Saleh Alaihissalam to their midst to call on his people so that they repent to Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala and not to associate partners with Him. As explained in the Qur’an Surah Al Hud verse 61 which means: “And to the people of Samud (we sent) their brother. Saleh. He said, “O my people! Worship Allah, there is no god for you but him. He has created you from earth (earth) and made you prosperous, so seek forgiveness from Him and then repent to Him.”

The invitations and calls of the prophet Saleh Alaihissalam to his people were ignored by them, even they mocked and said, “that Prophet Saleh was just an ordinary human being”. Even though they had asked for proof of his apostolate, namely that the prophet Saleh Alaihissalam asked Allah Subhanahu wa ta’ala to bring out a she-camel from a large rock.

Because they are very disobedient to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, the call of the Prophet Saleh they are completely ignored, even they disturb Allah’s camel which becomes proof of the apostolate of the Prophet Saleh Alaihissalam whose drinking day has been determined.

And because they did not believe, they slaughtered the camel, then they came to the prophet Saleh Alaihissalam and said, “If true you are the messenger of Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala” Prove the torment that you promised earlier, for we have slaughtered the camel.”

The prophet Saleh Alaihissalam replied “You may witness for yourself in these 3 days, because God’s punishment is near!” The Prophet Saleh’s answer was correct. And the punishment was proven. As the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in the Qur’an surah al-a’raf verse 78 which means: “Then an earthquake came upon them and they died lying in the rubble of their houses”.

The day before the punishment of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala descends, the prophet Saleh Alaihissalam and his people the believers, namely about 120 people, had left the Hijr country for Ramalah,Palestine. But the prophet Saleh still had time to remind his people to repent to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala. As Allah says in the Qur’an Surah Al-A’raf verse 79 which means: “O my people! Indeed, I have conveyed the message of my Lord to you and I have advised you. But you do not like those who give advice”. After the Prophet Saleh Alaihissalam and his followers were in a safe place, then the punishment came from Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to the Samud people in the form of a very powerful lightning.

Grabbed the entire population and destroyed all the buildings, so that the Samud civilization disappeared in an instant.

CONCLUSION FROM THE STORY OF THE PROPHET SALEH AS

1.       Everyone who disobeys Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala ends his life with torment and punishment from Allah.

2.       Prophet Saleh bin Ubaid bin Jalil bin Samud, his people named Samud in the nation, right? His grandfather named Samud bin Amir bin Iran.
