Prophet Syu’aib 

Prophet Syu’aib is still a descendant of Prophet Lut Alaihissalam from his daughter. The Prophet Shu’aib Alaihissalam was sent to the land of Madyan, which is near the border of the land of Sham or what is called Syria, the people in that country have long abandoned the teachings of the previous prophets, they forgot to carry out their religious orders. Because of this, the Prophet Shu’aib Alaihissalam was sent by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala to call on them so that they would worship Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and not commit crimes. That is like theft, fraud, and also cheating in measures and scales. As the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in the Qur’an Surah Al-A’raf verse 85 which means: “And to the people of Madyan we (sent) Shu’aib, their own brother. He said, O my people! Worship Allah. No there is a god (worship) for you besides Him. Verily there has come to you clear evidence from your Lord. Perfect the measure and the Scales and do not harm anyone in the least. Do not do mischief on the earth after (created) well. That is better for you If you believers”.

The call of the Prophet Syu’aib Alaihissalam to his people was not followed by his people, they even thought he was the right one, while the Prophet Ayub Alaihissalam was considered a trigger for riots and commotion. But the Prophet Shu’aib Alaihissalam did not give up, he even grew enthusiastic and always taught and educated them.

Even the call of the Prophet Shu’aib was strongly opposed by his people, with ridicule, “Try you send down the punishment right now on us, if your words are true.”

Their request was immediately granted by Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, with the punishment of very hot air, very powerful lightning and accompanied by a very great earthquake that caused them to fall over and die lying on the ground under the rubble of the house. As the word of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in Al-Quran Surah Al A’raf verse 91 which means: “Then an earthquake came upon them and they died lying in the rubble of their houses”.

Such was the torment of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala which immediately befell them, so the Prophet Syu’aib Alaihissalam and those who believed in him migrated to another country, namely the land of Aikah, is an area not far from Madyan.

And when he was about to migrate, the Prophet Shu’aib Alaihissalam advised his people, as the word Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala in the Qur’an surah Al-A’raf verse 93 which means: “So Shu’aib left them saying. O my people! Indeed, I have conveyed the message of my Lord to you and I have advised you. So how shall I grieve for the disbelievers?”

PROPHET SYU’AIB AS HIJRAH TO AIKAH

Prophet Syu’aib Alaihissalam migrated to the land of Aikah, which is a fertile area and not far from Madyan city. In this country, the people are no different from the Madyan people. They also disobeyed and disobeyed their Lord.

But the Prophet Syu’aib Alaihissalam did not tire of calling on them to fear Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, the Lord who created them and the people who were stronger before them.

The Prophet Syu’aib Alaihissalam explained to them about the torment that would befall people those who disobey Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala and if you follow this call then the benefit is for you.

But they even strongly opposed the Prophet Shu’aib Alaihissalam, then came the punishment of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala, as Allah says in the Qur’an sura As-Syuara verse 189 which means: “then they denied it (Syu’aib). Then they torment will be struck on a dark day. Indeed, that is the punishment on a terrible day.”
